Adoption Academy Support for Bucks County Council Adopters

Buckinghamshire County Council  have to date contracted Adoption Academy to provide four, 1 day training courses in Building Resilience for adopters and two Calming the Turmoil Through Movement and Touch. After initial consultants with regards their requirements a programme of training was drawn up and delivered. A workbook was also provided to delegates. Subjects covered include:

Understanding their and their childrens' stress

Improving their self care and ability to relax

Managing their reactions and reducing the triggers

Reducing their stress and developing resilience

Gaining an insight into what lies behind a childs' behaviour and how to manage that behaviour

Developing a greater rapport and connection with their child and improve relationships within the family

Helping to regulate their child emotionally and staying emotionally regulated themselves

Modifying their language and thoughts
